Rental Policy

Facilities: The Saint Joseph Historical Society rents the lower level of Robidoux Row for parties, showers, reunions, weddings, receptions, etc. We offer two large rooms (and the patio during warm weather). The main room (Bicentennial Room) is 48 feet long and about 15 feet wide. It has a direct entrance out to the sidewalk on the south side of the building. There are a total of 5 steps to get into the building. It can comfortably seat 60-70 people. The tables are 6 feet long and 30 inches wide. The secondary room (Garden Room) is 34 feet long and about 13 feet wide. It is used mainly for the serving of food. There are two long tables and 3 large buffets which may be used. Two coat racks are also in this room. There are two entrances from the patio which, in nice weather, can seat up to 40 people (4 at 10 round tables). There are 5 short steps from street level to the patio. We also offer a serving kitchen with lots of counter space, a 3 bowl sink and a refrigerator. There is no stove but we do have a microwave and a medium countertop oven. Two restrooms are also available making the entire unit self contained.

Weddings only - $150

Reception only - $300

Wedding and reception - $350

A $50 deposit is applicable to all rentals.  Any time past midnight, or any excessive cleaning, will result in the reduction or forfeiture or the deposit.

All parties, etc. must be booked in advance with the renter signing a contract and paying before the room is used. If a groups plans to use the room every month on the same day, a special price of $50 each meeting if available.

We do offer the room FREE to any local Quester group since they do so much for the museum. We also offer it free to parties for active military personnel. We do allow alcoholic beverages but they cannot be sold as we do not have a liquor license. The board and/or the executive director may change the prices or times to fit the occasion.

Members of the St. Joseph Historical Society also receive a discount.

Hours: Rentals may begin as early as 8:00 a.m. and end at 10 p.m. Time may be extended for two more hours at the rate of $25 per hour. Wedding receptions are to end at 12 midnight. Usually no parties of any kind are held after midnight or on holidays.

Exceptions: Due to problems and damages in the past which the Historical Society had to pay for, we do not allow teenage parties nor college parties. We have talked to three attorneys and they see no problems with this due to difficulties in the past.

Contracts: We use a three part contract. We send the top two copies to the renter and they return the top copy with a check to insure that the room is reserved for them. The bottom copy we keep for our records. Attached is also a set of rules which are updated from time to time to ensure that the renters understand what is expected of them. There is also a sheet giving notice that no one is to park in the grass lots across the street or in the church parking lot as these are privately owned. Parking is along both sides of the street except the one block by our garden.
